How to get to Corfu

Corfu (also known as Kerkyra in Greek) is located in the northern part of the Ionian Sea, on the western coast of Greece, near the mainland. To reach Corfu, you have four options:

By Plane:
The fastest way is by plane. There are scheduled flights to Corfu from Athens and Thessaloniki all year round. From March to October more airlines serve the island from all major airports in Europe, supporting both package holidays and individual flight bookings. Corfu International Airport “I. Kapodistrias” (CFU) is located 2 kilometers south of Corfu Town. You can reach the town center from the airport by Blue City Bus No. 15 or by taxi.

By Ferry:

The main way to travel by ferry from mainland Greece to Corfu is from the port of Igoumenitsa, either to Corfu Town or to the southern port of Lefkimmi (Corfu’s second-largest town). There are many daily routes, and the journey takes about 1.5 – 2 hours. Ferries also connect Corfu with Italy (Venice, Ancona, Bari, and Brindisi) and Albania (Saranda). Cruise ships dock at the port of Corfu.
If you own a boat, you can approach the island and stay at the Gouvia marina, the largest and most organized marina on the island. In Corfu Town, you can dock at Mandraki or the small harbor of NAOK. You can also dock at the marina in Benitses, located a bit further south from Corfu Town.

By Bus:
There are daily bus routes operated by KTEL (Green Bus) between Corfu, Athens, and Thessaloniki.

By Car:
The ferries operating on the Italy-Greece routes have large garages, ideal for cars, motorcycles, and caravans.
From mainland Greece, you can take a ferry from the port of Igoumenitsa to Corfu Town or Lefkimmi in the south. (If your destination is the southern part of the island, it may be better to choose the ferry that goes to Lefkimmi port as the trip is shorter, about an hour and the ticket is cheaper.)
